LOCKDOWN LEISURE
I hope you're loving the lockdown and taking the time not stuck in traffic to get all those little things done around the house, take the time to facetime with friends or sort your wardrobe to be post lockdown ready for feeling fabulous every day. The words on everyone's lips are conscious living and finding happiness in the simple things. Simplifying the wardrobe is a nice place to start!
... a little wardrobe sort is always energising and refreshing : I have a few tips for you from having just done it myself:
1) Do it quickly with your coffee or wine: Remove everything and make 3 piles:
Keep it // Gift it //Maybeeeees (put these in a box and if you don't go back to them in 6 months - don't even look: just let them go!)
The outcome you are aiming for is to only have pieces you absolutely love and wear and that make you feel great left hanging in front of you. You may surprise yourself with what these pieces are and don't be tempted to hold onto things you haven't worn for emotional reasons or hoping they will come back into fashion because they probably won't. If it doesn't fit it needs to go too!
Take a look at whether you have the essentials: great pants/skirt, a T that suits your bodytype, an LBD that you can dress up and down or throw a shirt over - that perfect shirt both fitted and oversized, weekend wear that makes you feel beautiful and a great coat for over the tracksuit set for visits to the supermarket .....
Then you can choose those key pieces that reflect how you want to be perceived and have fun with that dramatic piece to team with with those essentials to look effortlessly stylish and unique.
There are plenty of Recycle boutiques that sell on your behalf and if you do drop a large amount of garments that have been causing your wardrobe to burst and make you feel like you have nothing to wear, even though you may not get much for each piece, it may just add up to enough to get yourself an amazing new pair of shoes to lift your spirits even more!....and you can let them shine with all that space!
Make an event of it on Zoom with your friends and a wine to gain inspiration as to whether to keep it or rework the pieces you are stuck on. Someone else may have a different take on how something can be styled to make it your new favourite!
Having everything you need right in front of you will allow you to make choices with ease and it will change your life.
It will take some time for the session but save time and headaches down the track - get the kids involved doing theirs if they are cramping your style :)
